Disaster Response / Crisis Event Coverage

Should a policyholder incur losses from a disaster or crisis event while insured, we will respond timely to repay a variety of costs up to a maximum insured amount.  A crisis event is defined as any unstable and dangerous situations which has directly caused, or has the potential to cause, serious bodily harm or death to an insured person, with little or no warning, as listed below:

  • Political threat / upheaval including war, riot, rebellion, revolution, invasion;
  • Wrongful detention / kidnapping / blackmail / extortion;
  • Violent crime / malicious attack;
  • Natural disasters;
  • Act of terrorism;
  • Civil commotion;
  • Bomb explosion;
  • Child abduction;
  • Disappearance;
  • Hijack.

The following insured losses are covered under this protection, subject to the conditions and exclusions of the specific policy, and being a direct result of the crisis event:

  • Emergency evacuation costs;
  • Relocation travel and accommodation;
  • Independent interpreter fees and expenses;
  • Development of a search protocol;
  • Deployment of temporary security manager / coordinator of close escort resource;
  • Crisis response consultant costs;
  • Reasonable extra expenses.
